Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women

Notice of Receipt of a Repatriation Application

(Blackfoot First Nations Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation Regulation)

Pursuant to the First Nations Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation Act

(FNSCORA) and the Blackfoot Sacred Ceremonial Objects Repatriation Regulation

made under that Act, the Province of Alberta as represented by the Minister of

Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women hereby gives notice of receipt of a

repatriation application from a member of the Piikani Nation for objects in the

Government of Alberta's collections at the Glenbow Museum.

The application is for the repatriation of a Thunder Medicine Pipe stem (AF 94), from

the Blackfoot Confederacy, which came into the possession of the Glenbow Museum

in 1965.

Any person with interest in this object, who either wishes to make written

representations to the Minister relating to this application or to submit an application

of their own, must do so within 30 days after publication of this notice in The Alberta

Gazette. For further information, an interested person should contact the Head of

Community Engagement at the Royal Alberta Museum, 9810 103a Avenue,

Edmonton, Alberta T5J 0G2. The Acting Head of Community Engagement can be

written representations have been made, and if the Minister considers repatriation to

be appropriate.

Contract Increases Approved Pursuant to Treasury Board Directive 02/2005

Contract: Edmonton - Alberta School for the Deaf Modernization

Contractor: Stuart Olson Construction Ltd.

Reason for Increase: This project is being delivered via the Construction

Management (CM) methodology. The scope of CM work was not fully defined (at the

onset of the project) until the design became developed and additional details became

known. The contract increase is the result of necessary structural upgrades, additional

hazardous materials abatement, and mechanical/electrical revisions that were required

due to conditions that were uncovered during the modernization work.

Contract Amount: $28,000,000.00

% Increase: 68%

Amount of Increase: $18,970,000.00

Contract: Edmonton - JEIII - Children's Services Relocation

Contractor: Willow Springs Construction (ALTA) Ltd.

Reason for Increase: Additional change orders up to $50,000 are anticipated for

additional mechanical work not identified in the initial design.

Contract Amount: $1,014,780.00

% Increase: 15%

Amount of Increase: $148,963.25

Contract: Two Hills - Two Hills Mennonite Replacement School Project

Contractor: Jen-Col Construction Ltd.

Reason for Increase: This contract involves the construction of a replacement

school, including a new parking lot, and demolition of the existing school in the Town

of Two Hills, Alberta. This overrun is a result of additional costs arising from unusual

site conditions, corresponding design changes, scope increases, escalation, and delays.

Contract Amount: $12,455,000.00

% Increase: 118%

Amount of Increase: $14,670,347.09

Contract: Various - Alberta Jubilee Auditoria SAJA and NAJA - Orchestra Pit Stage

Lift Replacement

Contractor: Krawford Construction Company Inc.

Reason for Increase: Additional change orders in the approximate amount of

$1,175,000.00 are anticipated to complete the project, which includes increased

demolition and reconstruction due to redesign, selective demolition of wood stage

deck due to hazardous materials at NAJA, temporary power relocation and cabling

required for SAJA, upgrade to finishes on orchestra pit lift panels in both locations,

cabling for new speakers in both locations, additional security for work being

completed after hours and a contingency for unforeseen charges to complete the

project.

Contract Amount: $4,986,000.00

The Town of Fairview may, after the public auction, become the owner of any parcel

of land not sold at the public auction.

Terms: Properties with a sale price of $50,001.00 or greater must provide a non-

refundable deposit of 20% of the sale price by cash or certified cheque and the

remaining balance within 30 days by the same method.

Redemption may be effected by payment of all arrears of taxes and costs at any time
