AN ACT RESPECTING THE APPLICATION AND EFFECT OF CERTAIN ACTS PASSED IN THE PRESENT SESSION OF THE LEGISLATURE UPON THE REVISED STATUTES OF

NEWFOUNDLAND

Short title

Amendments of certain Acts to apply to RSN 1990

Commencement

WHEREAS under and by virtue of the Revised Statutes, 1990 Act

the public general statutes of Newfoundland and Labrador as contained in The Revised Statutes of Newfoundland, 1970 and as passed in the years 1971 to 1990, both inclusive, are being consolidated and revised and the consolidation and revision will be brought into force by proclamation under the title of the Revised Statutes of Newfoundland and Labrador, 1990;

AND

WHEREAS upon the coming into force of the Revised Statutes of Newfoundland and Labrador, 1990, The Revised Statutes of Newfoundland, 1970, and all Acts passed at all sessions of the Legislature in the years 1971 to 1990, both inclusive, except the Acts and parts of Acts comprised in certain Schedules to the Revised Statutes of Newfoundland and Labrador, 1990, shall stand repealed;

AND

WHEREAS various Acts have been or may be passed in the present session of the Legislature whereby certain chapters, or parts of chapters, of The Revised Statutes of Newfoundland, 1970 and certain of the Acts, or parts of the Acts, passed in the years 1971 to 1990, both inclusive, have been or will be repealed, amended or otherwise referred to;

AND

WHEREAS those repeals, amendments or references of necessity will not appear in the Revised Statutes of Newfoundland and Labrador, 1990, which will incorporate only statutes passed up to the end of the session of the Legislature in the year 1990;

AND

WHEREAS it is desirable to make provision as to the application of all those repeals, amendments or references:

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

Short title

This Act may be cited as the Statutes Amendment Act, 1991

Amendments of certain Acts to apply to RSN 1990

Where by virtue of

an Act passed in the present session of the Legislature, a

chapter of The Revised Statutes of Newfoundland, 1970 or a part of the

chapter or

an Act passed at a session of the Legislature in the years 1971 to 1990, both inclusive, or a part of those Acts, is repealed, amended or otherwise referred to, that repeal, amendment or reference shall be held to be a repeal, amendment or reference of or to the provisions of the Revised Statutes of Newfoundland and Labrador, 1990, having the same effect as the

chapter or Act or part of that

chapter or Act.

Commencement

This Act comes into force on the day on which the Revised Statutes of Newfoundland and Labrador, 1990 comes into force.
