BILL 32 – 2023

PROVINCIAL SYMBOLS AND HONOURS AMENDMENT ACT, 2023

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

CLAUSE 1: [Provincial Symbols and Honours Act,

section 6.4] establishes the fossil emblem of British Columbia.

1 The Provincial Symbols and Honours Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 380, is amended by adding the following section:

Fossil emblem

6.4 The fossil known taxonomically as Elasmosauridae and commonly known as the elasmosaurid marine reptile is the fossil emblem of British Columbia.

Commencement

2 This Act comes into force on the date of Royal Assent.

Explanatory Note

CLAUSE 1: [Provincial Symbols and Honours Act,

section 6.4] establishes the fossil emblem of British Columbia.
