1 999-2000 LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY AND EXECUTIVE COUNCIL BILL No. 220 of 1999-2000

An Act to amend The Legislative Assembly and Executive Council Act (Votes of Confidence) (Assented to , 2000) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, enacts as follows:

Short title This Act may be cited as The Legislative Assembly and Executive Council Amendment Act, 2000 (Votes of Confidence). S.S. 1979, c.L-11.1, new

section 3.1 The Legislative Assembly and Executive Council Act is amended by adding the following

section after

section 3: “Designation 3.1(1) No vote taken on any Act, order or resolution of the Assembly is deemed to be a vote of confidence in the Executive Council unless, prior to the taking of that vote, the vote has been designated as one of confidence in the Executive Council by resolution of the Assembly.

(2) No Assembly shall continue to sit or meet from the time a vote of confidence, mentioned in subsection (1), is lost.

(3) The Lieutenant Governor may dissolve an Assembly when a vote of confidence is lost and cause a new Assembly to be chosen”.
